Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
What is it ?
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) begins with clarification of the problems you would like to work on and then consider what might be keeping your problems going, or the maintaining factors.
We will also consider personality shaping events and critical incidents in your past which may have affected you.
You will be expectced to take an active role in therapy.
You will discover the most unhelpful thinking styles, emotions and ways of being though note-keeping and then changing how you think and what you do.
You will be asked to take part in simple behavioural experiments related to your difficulties in order to test your current ways of thinking and behaving.
Your therapist will help you identify which areas of your thoughts, emotions and behaviours need work and will assist you to achieve appropriate changes.
